About the event

The San Jacinto Stompers bring Revival-style jazz rooted in the New Orleans recordings that helped reignite traditional jazz from the early 1940s onward. Their sound is inspired by artists such as Bunk Johnson, George Lewis, Kid Howard, Kid Thomas, Percy Humphrey, Wooden Joe Nicholas, and DeDe Pierce—musicians recorded across the city in halls, clubs, and even their own homes.

The band takes its name from San Jacinto Hall, one of the most important recording venues of that era. Performing as a classic six-piece lineup of trumpet, trombone, clarinet/saxophone, banjo, double bass, and drums, the San Jacinto Stompers combine decades of national and international experience with a deep respect for the Revival tradition.
